Creating Connections

Explore the way religion and worldviews are interwoven into society, as people from long-standing and diverse communities share their stories and open the window into their world.

Join us for workshops and presentations with journalists, teachers, religious leaders, and invited guests, making new contacts and networking with local media representatives who are looking for stories.

Media panels explain how their news desks worked, what kind of stories they were interested in and how to contact them. These events raise understanding between religious groups and the media, exploring new stories, breaking down misunderstanding, and showcasing the expertise of RE teachers and academics from local universities.

Religion Media Festival

Our annual festival features interviews, panel discussions and lively debates, capturing stories and issues from the world of religion which are making the news. Media professionals including journalists and broadcasters have the opportunity to hear new ideas, find new contacts, and explore news stories in greater depth.

Keynote speakers have included Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury; Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster; James Harding, former BBC Director of News; Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks; and the screenwriter Frank Cottrell-Boyce. Well-known broadcasters have chaired and taken part in panel discussions.

Lectures

Our lectures offer a platform for speakers in the public eye to address key issues in society. Our events attract many interested parties, especially media professionals and faith leaders.
